The Editress, LLC is owned by Elizabeth Mays. Mays has run marketing and operations for book-formatting technology startup Pressbooks.com and open textbook publisher the Rebus Community.

She has a master’s degree in digital media entrepreneurship from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and is currently an adjunct faculty developing the school’s first course on content marketing. She has long been the copy editor for Sedona Monthly and helped to produce the magazine’s first email newsletter and ebook, Sedona Monthly Hikes the Red Rocks. She is a co-editor on a new open textbook, Media Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and editor of a new open educational resource, Making Open Textbooks With Students. She writes for the new magazine, Iconic Life.

She is the author of the Pressbooks Guide to Self-Publishing and built Pressbooks’ YouTube channel. Previously, she was assistant director, leading marketing and operations for the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism, including managing the center’s website, businessjournalism.org, and email marketing. She developed the center’s first email course, Introduction to Covering Financials and compiled its first ebook download from blog content.

Prior to this experience, she was the outreach director for the Cronkite School, where she led the school’s website redesign. Previously, she served as executive editor of Scottsdale-based luxury lifestyle magazine, Arizona Foothills and launched its Tucson edition.

She has helped multiple authors edit and self-publish their books, including most recently, Journey to the Finish Line. She speaks and is featured in frequent webinars on how to self-publish. She has been featured in The Write Stuff radio show, The 5 Figure Author Challenge and has spoken at Tech Phoenix, MediaShift’s J-School Hackathon, Scottsdale Society of Women Writers, IBPA Publishing University and Bestseller Bootcamp.
